Job Description
The National Ecological Project M & E Specialist supports FAO's SURAGGWA programme by developing MEAL systems, analysing data and strengthening monitoring and reporting. The post coordinates field monitoring, information management and reports, and supports evaluations. It requires a Nigerian national with an advanced relevant degree, three years' experience, and English and Hausa proficiency.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Develop MEAL systems, tools and monitoring instruments
- Collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative project data
- Generate learning and good practices for evidence-based decisions
- Improve the project's indicator system and impact measurement
- Establish reporting mechanisms for government, donors and grantees
- Prepare technical and financial progress reports
- Coordinate field monitoring and implementation of the monitoring plan
- Coordinate database and GIS specialists supporting project information
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in statistics, economics, environmental studies, forestry, fisheries or a related field
- Three years of relevant agricultural development or project implementation experience
- Working knowledge of English and Hausa
- National of Nigeria
Desired Criteria
- Experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly field positions
- Experience in programme or project development and management
- Understanding of technical programme and project management procedures
- Experience in policy analysis relating to food security, agriculture and rural development
- Experience preparing programme or project proposals and monitoring implementation
