Job Description

UNSOH seeks a Movement Control Assistant to support passenger, cargo and inbound-delivery operations in Port-au-Prince. The role coordinates transport movements and logistics information, ensures compliance with dangerous-goods and customs procedures, and supports mission planning, reporting and emergency operations. It covers passenger, cargo, warehouse and terminal functions for the mission.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Receive and process passenger and cargo transportation requests, including dangerous goods requiring special handling
  • Plan and schedule personnel and cargo movements and determine efficient transport modes
  • Coordinate transport activities with aviation, transport, riverine and commercial service providers
  • Record and analyse movement data to optimise resource use and support management decisions
  • Supervise cargo warehouse activities and ensure safe storage, documentation and labelling of luggage and cargo
  • Coordinate inbound freight activities, review shipment documents and track delivery status in Umoja
  • Support customs, transport and movement-control coordination with vendors and local authorities

Role Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification in dangerous-goods transportation under IATA, ICAO or IMO rules and regulations
  • At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in movement control, multi-modal transportation, airline operations, logistics management or a related field
  • Experience using IATA or IMO rules and procedures for dangerous-goods transportation
  • Experience planning, coordinating and executing large-scale international personnel or cargo movements using at least two transport modes
  • Experience in customs clearance and inbound shipment coordination

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in international operations in a post-conflict environment
  • Experience preparing transport, procurement or supply-chain data and visualisation metrics
