Job Description

WFP seeks a Logistics Associate in San Salvador to coordinate country-office logistics planning and operations across assistance modalities. The role manages transport, distribution, suppliers, product traceability, budgets and emergency preparedness; strengthens logistics partnerships and capacity; and ensures timely delivery of food and non-food assistance under WFP policies and requirements.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Define logistics plans and priorities aligned with country-office strategy and donor requirements
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor transport, receipt, handling, delivery and distribution operations
  • Design routes, dispatch schedules, load plans and last-mile arrangements
  • Manage logistics-provider procurement, performance monitoring and contracts
  • Maintain product visibility and traceability in corporate systems and tracking tools
  • Coordinate third-party storage arrangements and verify operational, quality and safety conditions
  • Prepare and review logistics budgets and operational reports
  • Lead emergency logistics preparedness and contingency-plan updates

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, supply chain, logistics, engineering, international trade, business management or a related field
  • At least six years of experience in logistics, transport and distribution in humanitarian operations
  • Spanish fluency and professional English knowledge
  • Experience coordinating transport providers, logistics operators and third parties
  • Experience in cost analysis, logistics budgets, performance indicators and reporting

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in donor-funded operations, school feeding, imports, customs clearance and port reception
  • Experience with WFP corporate systems
