Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Consultant

Provides technical leadership for UNICEF Pacific and the Solomon Islands Government to strengthen mental health and psychosocial support across education, health, community and counselling systems. The consultant will develop evidence-informed guidance, training resources and professional standards that build a capable workforce and safer, supportive learning environments for children.

• Develop mental health and psychosocial support tools and guidance for education, health, community and counselling systems
• Create curriculum content for teachers on child development, psychosocial needs, support pathways and teacher self-care
• Develop training and capacity-building resources for health-facility mental health personnel
• Prepare training-of-trainers materials and workforce-development resources for mental health professionals
• Provide technical leadership to strengthen teacher capacity and school-based psychosocial support
• Support integration of mental health and psychosocial support into teacher professional development and counselling systems

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Mental Health, Education or another relevant field
• At least 10 years of professional experience in mental health, psychosocial support, counselling, child and adolescent wellbeing, education or related systems strengthening
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Experience developing curriculum, teacher professional development or training materials for frontline workers
• Experience strengthening mental health, counselling or psychosocial support systems

• Experience working with government, UNICEF, international organisations or NGOs in the Pacific or similar contexts
• Experience working in Small Island Developing States, particularly in the Pacific region
• Experience supporting multisectoral mental health or school wellbeing programmes
• Experience in mental health workforce development, training systems or supervision frameworks
