Job Description

Drives ICRC light vehicles in Nekemte to transport people and goods safely, securely and on time under organizational rules and Ethiopian traffic laws. The national driver monitors road conditions, maintains vehicles and trip records, handles fuel and goods documentation, and supports safe loading, delivery and convoy operations while responding promptly to accidents, defects and security changes.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Drive light vehicles to transport people and material safely
  • Monitor security conditions and follow internal security rules on the road
  • Check vehicle equipment, functioning, fuel and cleanliness
  • Verify trip authorization and insurance and inspection validity
  • Report accidents, defects and missing equipment immediately
  • Deliver mail and goods and assist passengers as needed
  • Record refuelling data and submit fuel bills
  • Support safe loading, unloading and goods documentation

Role Requirements

  • Technical school diploma or equivalent high-school-level experience
  • Grade III driving licence or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of similar experience
  • Excellent Afan Oromo and basic English
  • Automobile maintenance experience including oil checks and tyre changes
  • Good knowledge of the area of assignment

Desired Criteria

  • Capacity to use HF or VHF radio communication devices
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics
