The Light Vehicle Driver provides safe transport and vehicle support for UNAMA’s Bamyan Field Office. Reporting to the Regional Administrative Officer and Vehicle Technician, the role drives authorized personnel, delivers official items, conducts daily vehicle checks and minor repairs, maintains trip and fuel records, reports faults and incidents, and complies with UNAMA safety, security and.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Drive UNAMA vehicles safely for authorized personnel
  • Deliver and collect official mail, documents and supplies
  • Conduct daily vehicle maintenance and safety checks
  • Carry out minor repairs such as changing flat tires
  • Keep assigned vehicles fueled, clean and roadworthy
  • Record trips, mileage, fuel consumption and maintenance activities
  • Report vehicle damage and mechanical or electrical faults
  • Comply with accident reporting and convoy security procedures

Role Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driving license type B
  • At least 1 year of safe driving experience; this is reduced to zero for candidates with a first-level degree or higher in mechanical engineering
  • Experience driving armored vehicles
  • English and Dari are required

Desired Criteria

  • Post-secondary technical or vocational transport qualification
  • Experience with the United Nations system or similar organizations
  • Experience driving diverse vehicle makes and models
