Job Description

Supports ESCAP's Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Section on gender equality and women's empowerment, including care economy, entrepreneurship and gender-mainstreaming work. The intern researches and analyses evidence, helps organise workshops, prepares written and visual materials, and provides project support for technical cooperation and the 2030 Agenda.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Research and analyse gender equality and women's empowerment issues
  • Assist in organising and convening meetings and workshops
  • Prepare background papers, speeches, presentations and publication inputs
  • Provide substantive and administrative support to technical cooperation projects
  • Support work on women's economic empowerment and the 2030 Agenda

Role Requirements

  • Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate programme, or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme
  • Fluency in English is required for the internship
  • Demonstrated interest in United Nations work and commitment to the ideals of the Charter

Desired Criteria

  • Research and writing skills for speeches, analytical papers and presentations
  • Experience organising and supporting workshops and meetings
  • Experience on gender equality, women's empowerment, care economy or entrepreneurship
  • Availability for 6 months with most of the internship onsite
