Job Description

This DESA internship supports the Programme Planning and Coordination Unit's communications and outreach for inclusive social development in New York. The intern researches United Nations developments, produces digital and news content, supports major intergovernmental events and observances, manages web and social-media materials, monitors audience engagement and evaluates communications results.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Research and monitor United Nations developments and news sources on inclusive social development
  • Produce and update news, event coverage, interviews, articles and digital content for websites and social-media platforms
  • Support communications for CSocD65, COSP20 and UNPFII preparations and stakeholder participation
  • Draft, edit and publish news stories, summaries and articles for events, meetings and seminars
  • Prepare public-information materials including presentations, concept notes, flyers, infographics, social-media cards and video productions
  • Support campaigns for international days and observances under the DISD mandate
  • Monitor audience engagement, evaluate communications results and update website content

Role Requirements

  • Enrolment in or completion of a graduate programme
  • Enrolment in or completion of the final academic year of a bachelor's degree
  • A field of study closely related to the internship
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Provide proof of eligibility for the internship programme

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of an additional official United Nations language
