Job Description
The consultant will help UNICEF's Office of Strategy and Evidence implement and embed data-governance initiatives, including readiness of key data assets for artificial intelligence. Working across major workstreams, the assignment turns governance products and decisions into practical engagement materials, coordinates rollout and adoption, and strengthens organisational capacity for data quality, accountability and responsible data use.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Assess data-governance maturity
- Support implementation of data roles and accountability models
- Improve key data assets and data-quality guidance
- Support the data-readiness-for-AI assessment tool
- Operationalise the data-governance toolkit and capability model
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, socialisation, rollout and adoption
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in a relevant data-management or governance field
- At least seven years of experience in data governance, data management, strategy, architecture, analytics or related fields
- Experience establishing data accountability models
- Experience with data quality, metadata, cataloguing, master data and data-asset management
- Experience supporting AI readiness or responsible AI initiatives
- Fluency in English
Desired Criteria
- Prior UNICEF experience
- Experience with UN agencies, international organisations, humanitarian organisations, development partners or large federated organisations
- Understanding of child-rights-based approaches to data and responsible data practices
