Job Description

Provides strategic and technical leadership to strengthen vaccine supply chains, cold-chain management and logistics in Comoros. The specialist aligns immunization supply-chain improvement with EVM 2.0, national plans and Gavi priorities; works with health authorities and partners; and promotes resilient, equitable systems that keep potent vaccines available in remote communities.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership for vaccine supply chains, cold-chain management and logistics performance
  • Align immunization supply-chain management with EVM 2.0, the national Continuous Improvement Plan, Thrive360 and Gavi 6.0 priorities
  • Strengthen vaccine forecasting, stock management, distribution and cold-chain equipment maintenance
  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Health, EPI, UNICEF Supply Division and immunization partners
  • Build capacity across health-system levels and support functional National Logistics Working Groups
  • Promote evidence-based decision-making, supply-chain governance and logistics digitalization

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in public health, supply or purchasing, logistics, medicine, epidemiology, health administration, supply chain management, economics, international development, health informatics or a related field
  • At least five years of relevant experience in supply management, logistics, health, immunization supply chains, cold-chain management, vaccine forecasting, stock management, distribution, last-mile delivery, maintenance management or environmental sustainability
  • Fluency in English and French

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language
  • Experience in developing countries, with Ministries of Health or within the UN system
  • Experience with EVM 2.0 assessments or eLMIS implementation
  • Knowledge of international public health
  • Country-level experience in development, fragile settings or humanitarian contexts
