Job Description

Leads UNICEF’s Fada Field Office in eastern Burkina Faso, overseeing programming for children in a humanitarian context. The chief manages staff and assets; represents UNICEF in the area; directs programme and operational teams; advances public-health interventions; coordinates partnerships and resources; and drives monitoring, evaluation, capacity building and rights-based results.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Manage UNICEF presence, staff and assets in the field office
  • Lead programme and operational teams to deliver quality results in the area of responsibility
  • Provide strategic oversight of essential health services and public-health interventions
  • Direct programme development, management and use of programme funds
  • Coordinate partnerships and represent UNICEF in the area of responsibility
  • Lead monitoring, evaluation, capacity building and rights-based programme management

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in public health, medicine, epidemiology, health policy and management, global or international health, health systems, community health or another relevant health-related technical field
  • At least five years of professional experience in programme management, planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation or related fields
  • Fluency in French and intermediate or working knowledge of English

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is desirable
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and a field office in complex or humanitarian settings is highly desirable
  • UN-system experience is an asset
  • Experience with government health authorities, humanitarian coordination mechanisms, civil society and communities is an asset
