Job Description
UNOPS seeks a home-based Hydrology Advisor to guide climate-resilient water infrastructure across the Horn of Africa. The retainer role leads hydrological analysis and climate-adaptation inputs, supports technical designs and reporting, and strengthens water-security planning through climate models, forecasting, water-resources management and capacity building.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Provide specialist technical advice and strategic design support in hydrology, water resources and climate adaptation
- Verify climate-resilient methodologies for infrastructure exposed to extreme weather and altered hydrological regimes
- Support data collection, field verification and hydro-meteorological modelling
- Prepare technical reports, risk logs and issue briefs for the Senior Portfolio Manager
- Share advanced knowledge on hydrological assessments, climate modelling and early warning systems
Role Requirements
- Master degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Hydro-climatology, Environmental Engineering or related field
- Minimum 7 years of relevant hydrological modelling, climate-impact evaluation and drought or flood forecasting experience
- English
Desired Criteria
- Experience in water-system risk assessment
- Applied research or capacity-building experience in hydrological engineering
