Hydrogeology Advisor

UNOPS seeks a senior home-based Hydrogeology Advisor for water and sanitation infrastructure work across the Horn of Africa. The specialist will provide advice on hydrogeology and applied geology, guide modelling and resource-management decisions, report implementation progress, coach project personnel and support sustainable groundwater and environmental-resource management.

• Provide technical advice and design support in hydrogeology and applied geology
• Guide resolution of geological, hydrogeological and geomorphological challenges
• Support sustainable management of groundwater resources
• Prepare progress, risk and issue reports for the Senior Project Manager
• Coach personnel in hydrogeological-process modelling
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to UNOPS and stakeholder personnel

• Master's degree or equivalent with 7 years of relevant experience in the subject
• At least 7 years of groundwater modelling experience in the engineering sector
• Experience with statistical and numerical methods, GIS, geoservices, contaminant modelling and remediation methods
• Fluent English

• Doctorate or post-doctorate with 7 years of relevant experience
• Water-system risk-assessment experience
• Teaching, applied research or capacity-building experience in hydrogeology or applied geology
• Publication record in international hydrogeology or applied-geology journals or conferences
