Job Description
This national UN Volunteer supports OHCHR’s human-rights work in Panama City. The assignment monitors rights conditions, documents violations, prepares analysis and early warnings, supports technical assistance and advocacy with institutions and civil society, advances follow-up to international recommendations, and integrates human-rights approaches into UN planning and public communications.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Monitor the human rights situation in Panama and support technical assistance
- Document civil and political rights violations in reports, briefs and early warnings
- Support advocacy and dialogue with state institutions and civil society
- Strengthen protection and participation mechanisms and coordination processes
- Support follow-up to UPR, treaty-body and special-procedure recommendations
- Prepare visibility materials and strategic communications on rule of law and civic space
Role Requirements
- Law, Political Science, International Relations, or Social Sciences, with academic background in human rights – Required
- Experience in human rights field at national or international level
- Excellent knowledge of international human rights instruments and tools for their promotion and protection is required
- Required: English
Desired Criteria
- Experience with UN agencies and relevant regional actors is an asset
- Experience working on human rights in Latin America and the Caribbean is desirable
