Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead protection coordination across UN, humanitarian and civil-society actors
  • Develop mission-wide and local protection strategies
  • Chair Protection Working Groups and mainstream human rights
  • Analyse drivers of civilian harm and emerging threats
  • Provide legal and policy advice on human-rights and humanitarian law
  • Manage team activities and performance

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in human rights, law, political science, international relations, social sciences, economics, public policy, sustainable development, humanitarian affairs or related field
  • At least seven years of human-rights or related experience
  • At least five years of protection-of-civilians knowledge
  • At least five years of human rights in humanitarian-context knowledge
  • English fluency

Desired Criteria

  • Survivor-centred and survivor-led programme design
  • Conflict-related sexual violence and child-protection framework knowledge
