Job Description
Advances OHCHR policy and programming on the human-rights impacts of digital technology. The officer will develop policies and training, integrate digital-rights considerations with UN and civil-society partners, monitor relevant human-rights instruments, advise governments and international organisations, and support advocacy, reporting and strategic action on emerging technology and AI issues.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Develop policies and training programmes on human rights and digital technology
- Integrate human rights and digital technology into UN and civil-society programmes
- Represent OHCHR on human rights and digital-technology matters
- Monitor digital technologies and implementation of international human rights instruments
- Support treaty bodies, special procedures and other human-rights mechanisms
- Prepare reports and notes for the General Assembly and Human Rights Council
- Advise UN sectors, international organisations and governments on digital-rights policy and action plans
- Train and supervise junior staff
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field, or a first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
- At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or a related area
- At least three years of policy work on the impact of digital technologies on human rights
- At least three years drafting strategies, programmes, policies, tools or guidelines on digital technology
- Experience analysing emerging AI policy developments and their human-rights implications
- Experience advocating with Member States and companies on digital technology and human rights
- English
