Job Description

Supports WHO SEARO and India’s SAHI Secretariat in New Delhi to develop health-AI governance and regulatory pathways. The national UN Volunteer drafts Pillar I roadmap actions, analyses global guidance, develops risk-classification and oversight guidance, coordinates Indian regulatory and health bodies, prepares policy briefs, supports regional consultations, and tracks implementation milestones.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Draft and finalise Pillar I roadmap actions on AI risk classification, regulatory pathways and accountability
  • Analyse global AI governance and medical-device guidance for the Indian health-system context
  • Develop risk-classification guidance and oversight obligations for health AI tools
  • Coordinate technical inputs from Indian regulatory, research and health bodies
  • Prepare technical notes, decision briefs and comparative analyses
  • Track milestones, risks and cross-pillar dependencies for the SAHI Secretariat

Role Requirements

  • At least seven years of professional experience in AI or digital-health governance, medical-device regulation, health-technology policy or health law and regulatory affairs
  • Working familiarity with Indian regulatory and research-governance bodies and international AI-governance frameworks
  • Proven ability to draft policy, regulatory and legal instruments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • English is required

Desired Criteria

  • Legal or doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline is an advantage
  • UN-system or international-development experience is an asset
