Job Description

Leads food-safety and quality-assurance support for WFP Liberia across procurement, logistics, local sourcing, storage, transport and programme delivery. The officer manages FSQMS compliance, inspections, supplier and laboratory assurance, incident investigations and risk controls, and strengthens government, partner and supply-chain capacity to protect food quality and beneficiary wellbeing.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation and improvement of WFP’s Food Safety and Quality Management System
  • Monitor food-safety and quality risks across procurement, storage, transport and distribution
  • Oversee inspections, sampling, testing, commodity acceptance and warehouse monitoring
  • Support supplier prequalification, assessment, monitoring and performance evaluation
  • Coordinate incident investigations, traceability exercises, recalls and mitigation measures
  • Manage laboratory identification, assessment, validation and performance monitoring
  • Integrate food-safety controls into programme design and implementation
  • Train staff, government counterparts, suppliers and partners and represent WFP in food-safety forums

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, food technology, food safety and quality management, food control, nutrition or a related field, or a first university degree with at least three years of relevant experience
  • At least three years of progressively responsible food-safety, quality-assurance, food-technology, quality-management-system or related experience
  • Fluency in oral and written English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in industrial food production, food fortification and stability testing
  • Knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures
