Job Description

UNDP seeks a Finance Associate in São Tomé to deliver country-office financial services. The associate will maintain financial processes and controls, support budgets and cost recovery, manage payment documents and ERP records, reconcile accounts and VAT claims, monitor cash, prepare reports, resolve data issues, and share financial-management knowledge with operations and project teams.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Maintain country-office financial processes, records, reports and audit follow-up
  • Prepare and modify budgets and support budget management reporting
  • Control payment documentation, invoices and systematic document archiving
  • Maintain expenditure controls and ensure ERP transactions are correctly recorded
  • Reconcile accounts and follow up accounts receivable and VAT claims
  • Review cash positions, prepare cashflow forecasts and initiate ERP bank transfers

Role Requirements

  • Secondary education with specialized accounting and/or finance certification
  • At least six years with high school or three years with bachelor’s degree of finance and accounting experience
  • Fluency in French and Portuguese
  • Experience with office software, spreadsheets, ERP financials and database packages

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with IPSAS or IFRS
  • Experience preparing financial reports and overviews
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation tools
  • Knowledge of procurement procedures
