Job Description

Strengthens emergency-department care in Baghdad by supporting triage, infection prevention, patient flow, referrals, documentation and staff capability. The field officer trains and mentors nurses, monitors emergency-care quality, supports mass-casualty preparedness and works with the Ministry of Health and partners to link emergency-department and pre-hospital care into a coordinated service.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Establish and follow up the emergency-department programme with Ministry of Health and hospital interlocutors
  • Strengthen triage, crowd control, patient flow, documentation and referral pathways
  • Monitor and evaluate emergency-care delivery using established monitoring tools
  • Provide bedside teaching, mentoring and practical demonstrations to emergency-department nurses
  • Deliver formal education sessions on emergency nursing care
  • Develop emergency-department rules, treatment guidelines, protocols and quality indicators
  • Support mass-casualty incident planning and disaster preparedness
  • Coordinate emergency-nursing activities with health authorities and relevant stakeholders

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or higher with emergency-department experience
  • At least 3 years of postgraduate specialised clinical experience with knowledge of clinical protocols and guidelines
  • Valid licence to practise in Iraq
  • Fluent command of English and Arabic
  • This position is open to national candidates

Desired Criteria

  • Trainer qualification in Basic Emergency Care course
  • IITT triage-training knowledge
  • Experience with humanitarian organisations in similar contexts
  • Experience working with local health authorities and relevant stakeholders
