Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead medical strategy, annual planning and budgeting for emergency interventions
  • Conduct exploratory health assessments and start new emergency responses
  • Direct medical teams and support recruitment, induction, development and performance management
  • Coach medical teams in delivering person-centred care adapted to local contexts
  • Oversee pharmacy, medical equipment, consumption and medical orders
  • Monitor health activities and report progress through situation and medical reports
  • Design staff training and support medical-team capacity development
  • Represent MSF with health authorities, organisations, donors and humanitarian counterparts
  • Act as country-level staff-health lead during emergency assignments

Role Requirements

  • Medical doctor or paramedical degree
  • At least 24 months of MSF country-programme experience across three contexts, including an emergency or high-security project
  • Experience with at least two specified outbreak, vaccination, nutrition or war-wounded responses
  • Emergency public-health, rapid-assessment and health-surveillance knowledge
  • Fluent English and French
  • Willingness to travel frequently at short notice and work in stressful conditions

Desired Criteria

  • Arabic or Spanish proficiency
  • Experience in highly insecure contexts
