Job Description

FAO is seeking an Emergency Project Operations Specialist to support its emergency and resilience agenda across global, regional, subregional or country settings. The consultancy manages operational delivery, budgets and project documentation; supports programme design and food-security analysis; and coordinates partners, procurement and country-office preparedness for emergency response.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and programmatic support for emergency projects and programmes including budgetary management and expenditure monitoring
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of emergency-response projects through operational and financial closure
  • Liaise with programme and procurement units to deliver assistance to beneficiaries in line with workplans and budgets
  • Coordinate concept notes, project documents, financial and narrative reports and visibility materials
  • Research and analyse food-security, emergency-response and funding data to support programme delivery
  • Maintain country-level food-security and needs-response information systems and databases

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a discipline relevant to FAO's mandate
  • At least 1 year of experience for Category C, 5 years for Category B or 10 years for Category A in humanitarian and agricultural or rural development sectors
  • Working knowledge of English or French

Desired Criteria

  • Work experience in more than one location or area of work
  • Limited knowledge of a second FAO language
  • Experience in programme formulation, planning, implementation, evaluation and budget management
