Job Description

Leads technical support for UNICEF Pacific's education and early-childhood-development programme in Kiribati. Based in South Tarawa, the role manages planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting while strengthening national education systems, partnerships and equitable learning opportunities for children facing climate risk, geographic isolation and constrained service delivery.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Manage education and early-childhood-development programme planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting
  • Provide technical guidance throughout programming processes to achieve education results
  • Support education-system strengthening, inclusive access and improved learning outcomes
  • Apply results-based management approaches, plans, standards and accountability frameworks
  • Coordinate with the Ministry of Education, development partners, UN agencies and civil society
  • Support donor relations and resource mobilisation for education programming
  • Advance climate-resilient education and continuity of learning in emergencies

Role Requirements

  • UNICEF national staff holding a fixed-term, continuing or permanent appointment
  • At least one year of service under a UNICEF national-staff fixed-term appointment
  • At least seven years of relevant experience in education programme planning, management or research
  • Experience managing education programmes within a results-based-management framework
  • Experience working in low-income settings

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with foundational learning, parenting programmes or multi-sectoral school-health approaches
  • Experience integrating disaster-risk reduction and continuity of learning
  • Pacific or small-island developing-state experience
  • Experience with GPE, EU or other funding mechanisms
  • Experience with a UN system agency or international organisation
