Summary of Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, monitor and document education programmes across four Amazon states
  • Support education authorities to enrol, re-enrol and retain out-of-school children
  • Strengthen inclusive and protective learning through intersectoral coordination
  • Provide technical assistance and training on early-childhood and foundational education
  • Produce technical materials, reports, presentations and knowledge products
  • Conduct field visits, workshops and consultations with authorities and communities
  • Analyse education indicators and programme evidence for reporting and decisions
  • Build partnerships with government, education networks, youth and traditional communities

Role Requirements

  • Relevant degree in education, social sciences, public policy, psychology or another relevant field
  • At least three years of professional experience relevant to education programmes, public policy, social development, child rights or humanitarian-development work
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, virtual collaboration and data systematisation
  • Availability and willingness to travel frequently within the Amazon territory
  • Portuguese

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in the Amazon region or an international context
  • Experience with school retention, learning recovery, adolescent engagement, intersectoral programming or inclusive education
  • Experience with Indigenous, Quilombola, riparian or other traditional communities
  • Knowledge of Brazil’s public education system, particularly in the Amazon region
  • English
  • Spanish or Indigenous languages spoken in the Amazon region

  • Frequent travel within the Amazon territory, including remote areas, is required
  • The assignment supports UNICEF programmes in Pará, Amapá, Tocantins and Mato Grosso
