Job Description

Provides technical and policy support to establish demographic intelligence and adaptation for UNFPA Nepal. The consultant turns population evidence, projections and foresight into planning and financing decisions, strengthens government capacity, analyses demographic and fiscal implications, advances decision tools, and ensures rights-based, gender-responsive responses to demographic change.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop demographic intelligence approaches using census, survey and administrative data
  • Analyse demographic transitions and their development implications
  • Generate national and subnational projections and scenarios
  • Strengthen analysis of economic and fiscal implications
  • Support integration of demographic adaptation under CP10
  • Institutionalise demographic intelligence within government planning
  • Promote innovative demographic decision-support tools

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in demography, economics, public policy, social sciences or a related field
  • Relevant demographic analysis, policy and programme experience
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of ICPD and rights-based policy
  • Experience with government demographic planning
