Job Description

Supports UNICEF Argentina’s MUNA Ambiental initiative by helping municipalities implement and monitor environmental action plans for children and adolescents. The consultant designs focused technical support for selected local governments, strengthens environmental project delivery and builds local capacity across water, sanitation, climate-risk prevention and vulnerable urban settings.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Monitor implementation of environmental action plans in municipalities already participating in MUNA
  • Design and implement focused work with selected municipalities to develop or improve environmental projects

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Geography, Environmental Management, Natural Resources Management, Meteorology or a related field
  • Demonstrable experience in project management and technical assistance for planning, design and programme management on environmental, risk-management or water and sanitation issues
  • Experience providing technical assistance or training to public authorities, preferably at municipal level
  • Experience designing and implementing participatory environmental and community-service processes
  • Excellent oral and written Spanish

Desired Criteria

  • Postgraduate study or specialist training in environmental management or natural-resources management
  • Experience in multisectoral projects, international organisations or Sustainable Development Goal-related initiatives
  • Knowledge of children’s and adolescents’ rights and experience promoting child participation
  • Publications on climate change, environment, pollution, habitat, water or sanitation using data and statistics
  • Knowledge of the United Nations system and UNICEF
