Job Description

This consultancy will assess solid-waste generation and eco-efficiency in educational institutions, local education offices, tourism businesses and transit spaces in Cusco and Urubamba. It will produce waste-characterisation studies, institutional diagnostics and implementation strategies that support circular-economy tourism and stronger local resource management.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Prepare a workplan, methodology, schedule and data-collection tools for waste-characterisation studies and eco-efficiency diagnostics
  • Conduct five solid-waste characterisation studies across educational institutions, UGEL offices, restaurants, accommodation providers and tourist transit spaces
  • Collect, systematise and process waste-generation, per-capita generation, composition and density data using field records and photographic evidence
  • Produce 24 eco-efficiency diagnostics for UGEL premises and tourism service providers
  • Develop eco-efficiency implementation strategies with UGEL stakeholders and run at least one planning workshop for each UGEL
  • Deliver digital folders, study reports, diagnostic reports, processed Excel data and the final eco-efficiency strategy to the required schedule

Role Requirements

  • University degree in environmental engineering, sanitary engineering, biology or a related field
  • At least 12 hours of training in integrated solid-waste management
  • At least two years of experience in solid-waste management, sustainability or eco-efficiency projects
  • Participation in at least five solid-waste characterisation studies or eco-efficiency diagnostics for public or private institutions
  • At least one work experience in Cusco in solid-waste management
  • Native Spanish
  • Residence in Cusco or availability to relocate for the consultancy
  • Availability to travel within Peru as required by the project
