Climate Adaptation Economics ConsultantNew

Develops an evidence base for financing child-responsive climate adaptation by quantifying the costs and returns of resilient social services. The consultant maps research, designs and tests a country-level costing methodology, produces scalable estimates and translates findings into investment cases, national plans and climate-finance proposals for UNICEF, governments and partners.

• Conduct baseline and evidence mapping on adaptation needs, costs and returns for child-critical social services
• Develop a replicable costing framework for child-responsive adaptation and investment returns
• Apply and test the methodology in selected country contexts
• Generate country-level estimates and assess broader regional or global applications
• Produce a scalable model and methodological framework for UNICEF, governments and partners

• Master’s degree in economics, climate economics, data science, statistics, environmental economics, public policy, climate science or equivalent areas
• At least eight years of relevant experience in climate change, economics, data science, statistics, econometrics, financial analysis or sustainable development
• Strong understanding of climate-finance architecture and adaptation finance
• Proficiency in Excel and at least one statistical software package
• English

• Experience in climate change adaptation economics, including costing adaptation needs or assessing resilience-investment returns
• Experience working with international datasets and cross-country comparative analysis
• Experience conducting policy-oriented analytical work and producing technical reports or knowledge products
• Experience applying economic analysis to child-critical or social sectors
