Job Description
UNOPS seeks a home-based Climate Change Adaptation Officer to support South Africa’s Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment on Green Climate Fund readiness and the Climate Investment Platform. The retainer role coordinates national stakeholders, mobilizes resources, develops project pipelines and advances climate information systems, indicators and related technical work.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Support development of the Green Climate Fund readiness application
- Support development and continuous management of the Climate Investment Platform
- Mobilize strategic partner financing and maintain an adaptation project pipeline
- Organize multi-stakeholder dialogues and CIP-related events
- Improve climate information systems and adaptation indicators
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in a relevant field, or a related bachelor degree with additional experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in climate-change governance, policy or national systems
- Knowledge of South African climate-policy frameworks, national plans and strategies
- Experience managing national stakeholder engagement processes
Desired Criteria
- Familiarity with government processes including climate financing and bilateral cooperation
- Experience in climate policy, climate finance and investment planning
