Job Description

Lead drafting of WHO Africa’s Regional Health Financing Strategy by consolidating evidence, facilitating technical consultations and translating policy directions into an actionable framework. The home-based consultant will also prepare Regional Committee materials and a regional financial-protection report.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Review global regional and national health-financing evidence and develop the strategy framework
  • Facilitate technical brainstorming and consultation with WHO teams and Member States
  • Draft revise and finalise the Regional Health Financing Strategy and Regional Committee documents
  • Prepare executive summaries policy briefs presentations and publication-ready materials
  • Support analysis and writing of the regional financial-protection monitoring report

Role Requirements

  • Hold an advanced degree in health economics health financing and policy public health development economics or a related field
  • Have at least ten years of experience in health financing health policy or health-system reform
  • Demonstrate experience drafting strategic frameworks or policy documents for international or regional bodies
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical writing synthesis facilitation coordination and communication skills
  • Have excellent written and spoken English

Desired Criteria

  • Doctorate in health economics
  • Experience in data analysis capacity building and research publication
  • Experience in the African region
  • Knowledge of French
