Job Description

This home-based national consultancy will lead participatory, transformative research on gender barriers affecting adolescent nutrition and that of their children in Mali. It will examine social norms, power relations, resources and service access, while working with adolescents and institutions to develop practical, locally appropriate solutions that promote lasting wellbeing and agency.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Conduct participatory and transformative research on gender barriers affecting adolescent nutrition and their children
  • Analyse social and gender norms, power relations, resource control and decision-making affecting nutrition
  • Examine institutional and contextual factors shaping food practices and access to services
  • Engage adolescent girls in identifying and analysing barriers
  • Co-develop practical and locally adapted solutions with adolescents and stakeholders

Role Requirements

  • DEA or DESS degree in social sciences, public health, nutrition, gender and development or a related field
  • At least 10 years of research experience in gender, nutrition, public health or social development
  • Excellent written and spoken French

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with UNICEF or another United Nations agency
  • Experience in adolescent nutrition
