Job Description

Shapes UNDP São Tomé and Príncipe’s internal, external and digital communications to advance partnerships, resource mobilization and public engagement. The officer leads strategy, media relations, content and publication development, social-media outreach and staff capacity building, ensuring the country office communicates results, development priorities and thought leadership effectively.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Design and implement communications and outreach strategies aligned with country-office and corporate priorities
  • Advise programme and project teams on integrating advocacy and communications into programme formulation
  • Maintain photo databases, monitor media coverage and develop innovative communication and knowledge products
  • Build media partnerships, organize press conferences and facilitate senior-management interviews
  • Draft and disseminate press releases, media kits, newsletters and donor reports
  • Lead digital communications, website updates, social-media strategy and regular content production
  • Manage publication activities including content, editing, design and supplier liaison
  • Capture best practices and strengthen staff storytelling and media-savviness

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in media, communication, journalism, publishing or a related field; a bachelor’s degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be considered
  • At least two years of relevant experience in public relations, advocacy or communications with a master’s degree, or four years with a bachelor’s degree
  • Experience managing digital communications
  • Experience working with media
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese

  • Experience developing communications strategy
  • Experience in website management
  • Certification in communications or media
