IUCN seeks an Event Communications Coordinator for its 2027 World Protected and Conserved Areas Congress. Based in San José, the fixed-term role coordinates communications with the host country and IUCN partners; delivers multilingual event content, media and newsletter campaigns; monitors communications results; and leads post-event reporting to sustain engagement and promote Congress outcomes.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Serve as communications focal point between the Secretariat, host country and World Commission on Protected Areas
- Produce multilingual corporate event communications and marketing materials
- Create website content and coordinate with the Congress webmaster
- Plan and implement the event newsletter marketing campaign
- Support media relations and monitor communications performance against strategic goals
- Lead post-event communications and prepare the lessons-learnt report
Role Requirements
- Native-level proficiency in English and Spanish
- Degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism or a relevant field
- At least 6 years of experience in a similar role
- Excellent writing skills in English and Spanish
- Ability to be in Panama from 4 to 10 September 2027 and travel as required
Desired Criteria
- Success in event marketing or communications campaigns for large international events
- Experience with web management and newsletter production
- Video-production skills
- French competency
