Communication Officer: Digital & Public Outreach

UNDP South Africa seeks a National UN Expert Volunteer in Pretoria to support communications and outreach. The role develops multimedia stories, coordinates editorial planning and campaigns, supports media engagement, and strengthens SharePoint-based knowledge management. It requires communications or multimedia-production experience, English and Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Canva proficiency.

• Coordinate the development of compelling multimedia content that showcases UNDP's development impact across priority programme areas
• Draft and edit website articles, newsletters, speeches, blogs, social media content and other corporate communications products
• Support the development and implementation of integrated communications plans for flagship initiatives, campaigns, publications and high-level events
• Maintain and continuously improve the Communications Unit's SharePoint platform, digital asset library and knowledge management systems

• Professional experience in communications, journalism, public relations, strategic communications, digital communications or multimedia production
• Practical proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Lightroom and InDesign) and/or Canva
• Candidates with 5 or more years of professional field related experience will also be considered

• Demonstrated knowledge of one or more of sustainable development, climate change, governance, digital transformation, entrepreneurship, innovation, youth development, gender equality, social protection or inclusive economic growth is desirable
