Job Description

Leads civil, architectural and infrastructure projects for MONUSCO across field locations in Beni, from feasibility and design review through procurement, construction supervision and close-out. The role directs engineering teams and contractors while assuring structural safety, quality and environmental compliance.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design review and delivery of civil, architectural and infrastructure projects
  • Oversee feasibility, procurement documentation, construction supervision and project close-out
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and monitor technical delivery
  • Review drawings, bills of quantities, specifications and tender documents
  • Prepare structural calculations and specifications for concrete, steel, masonry, timber and underground works
  • Supervise contractors and enforce approved designs and contractual requirements
  • Conduct site investigations and engineering and environmental risk assessments
  • Verify progress, payments and completion records and brief management on risks and corrective actions

Role Requirements

  • Relevant experience in infrastructure engineering, construction management, architectural design and supervision, or building programmes
  • Experience planning projects, reviewing designs, supervising construction and administering contracts in field or post-conflict settings
  • Experience preparing and reviewing drawings, bills of quantities, specifications and tender documents
  • Knowledge of quality-control procedures, site inspections, HSSE standards and environmental-compliance frameworks
  • Fluency in English with strong drafting, formulation and reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently in austere, remote and potentially hazardous environments and travel extensively

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in humanitarian, development or UN field operations with contractors, authorities and partners
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Umoja or similar UN systems
