Job Description
Provides time-bound technical surge support to strengthen child protection and mental health and psychosocial support readiness for Ebola in Rwanda. Summary of Responsibilities
- Deliver technical outputs that strengthen child protection and mental health and psychosocial support readiness for Ebola
- Support UNICEF and government partners to prevent, prepare for and respond to Ebola-related risks affecting children and families
- Develop technical tools, guidelines, standard operating procedures or training packages for emergency response
- Facilitate multisectoral technical consultations with government and partner stakeholders
- Provide technical support to UNICEF sections on integrated mental health and psychosocial support interventions
- Translate technical guidance into practical operational frameworks for health, social service and community systems
Role Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, psychology, child protection, social policy or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible professional experience in child protection, mental health and psychosocial support, public health emergency response or related fields
- English and Kinyarwanda language proficiency
- Experience supporting government systems in social services, health or emergency coordination structures
Desired Criteria
- Experience supporting Ebola or similar public health emergency preparedness and response in Rwanda
- Familiarity with Rwanda Biomedical Centre and National Child Development Agency systems
- Experience working within United Nations systems, particularly UNICEF
- Experience in capacity building, training delivery and system strengthening
- Knowledge of community-based child protection mechanisms and mental health and psychosocial support programming
