Provides international technical leadership for UNDP Papua New Guinea’s sustainable blue-economy project, guiding marine conservation, natural-capital accounting, monitoring, capacity building and investment partnerships across three coastal seascapes and national implementing partners.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and quality assurance across blue-economy project outcomes
- Review technical documents, assessments, consultant deliverables and knowledge products
- Guide marine ecosystem assessment, protected-area governance and spatial-planning methods
- Oversee monitoring, risk management, adaptive planning and GEF reporting
- Build capacity of project staff, government counterparts and implementing partners
- Develop partnerships, investment cases and resource-mobilisation opportunities
Role Requirements
- Master's degree in a marine, environmental or natural-resource field, or bachelor's degree with additional experience
- At least seven years of progressively responsible marine-conservation, spatial-planning or sustainable-fisheries experience with a master's degree or nine years with a bachelor's degree
- At least five years in an advisory or chief technical specialist role with a major international organisation
- Fluency in English
Desired Criteria
- GEF or Green Climate Fund project experience
- Natural capital accounting using UN SEEA Ecosystem Accounts
- Nature-based Solutions or blue-economy business-model experience
- Experience in Papua New Guinea or the Melanesian Pacific
- Tok Pisin or another official PNG language
