Associate Human Rights Officer

Supports human rights monitoring in Ukraine by researching violations and emerging concerns, analysing evidence and contributing to reports, advocacy and capacity-building. The role works with authorities, civil society, UN partners and affected communities to strengthen protection, track trends and promote remedial action grounded in human rights standards.

• Research human rights issues, violations, trends and response gaps using multiple data sources
• Analyse information on assigned countries and thematic mandates and prepare up-to-date insights
• Draft briefings, interview notes and analytical documents on human rights matters
• Participate in hearings and consultations and prepare summaries of their outcomes
• Train law-enforcement, civil-society and NGO representatives on human rights
• Liaise with government, NGOs, UN agencies and partners to establish human rights baseline data
• Maintain project-progress databases and contribute data visualisations for planning and reporting

• Advanced university degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field, or a first-level degree in those fields with two additional years of qualifying experience
• At least two years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or a related area
• English, Ukrainian and Russian at UN Level III
• Nationality of Ukraine

• Experience in human rights or International Humanitarian Law data analytics
• Experience conducting face-to-face or remote interviews with victims and witnesses of human rights violations
• Experience within the United Nations common system or a similar international organisation
