Job Description

Support UNCTAD’s Debt and Development Finance Branch with economic analysis, research and technical-cooperation delivery. The officer collects and interprets socio-economic data, drafts analytical studies and briefing materials, supports intergovernmental processes, and prepares project proposals, documentation and implementation monitoring for development-finance initiatives.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyse statistics and socio-economic information on debt and development finance
  • Maintain databases and organise qualitative information
  • Draft analytical studies, briefing notes and speech inputs
  • Prepare inputs for reports to intergovernmental bodies
  • Support panels and round tables on debt and development finance
  • Prepare and monitor technical-cooperation proposals and projects

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in economics, finance, international relations or related field, or first-level degree with additional qualifying experience
  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in economics, finance or related area
  • Fluent English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in international trade, finance or development economics
  • Experience with debt management or sovereign debt issues
  • Experience with statistical and data-analysis tools
