Job Description
Analyses economic issues for the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, translating evidence into policy options, studies and development strategies. The officer monitors emerging risks, supports intergovernmental processes and coordinates with Member States and partners. The work strengthens economic approaches to disaster-risk reduction and informed action on resilience, prevention.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Monitor economic developments and identify emerging issues relevant to the United Nations
- Design studies on economic-development issues and draft reports
- Develop policy recommendations and proposals for development strategies
- Support intergovernmental processes and technical cooperation
- Coordinate with Member States and partners on relevant economic issues
- Contribute to capacity-building and analytical work on disaster-risk reduction
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in economics or a related field; a first-level degree may be accepted with two additional qualifying years
- At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis or economic policy formulation
- Fluency in English
