Job Description
Coordinates regional media engagement for UNDRR disaster-risk-reduction campaigns and the 2027 Regional Platform for the Americas and Caribbean. The home-based contractor will organize tsunami-awareness coverage, secure op-eds and interviews, produce media-network newsletters, prepare press materials and RP27 media tools, convene journalists and monitor coverage to strengthen resilience advocacy.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Coordinate media coverage for World Tsunami Awareness Day in Chile
- Secure placement of regional-media op-eds for advocacy campaigns
- Develop the World Tsunami Awareness Day dissemination package
- Organize the Regional Media Network advisory council meeting
- Design and disseminate two Regional Media Network newsletters
- Develop press releases and media advisories for RP27
- Coordinate RP27 media outreach, accreditation, registration and media kits
- Secure interviews and press conferences and monitor RP27 coverage
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in journalism, communication, media relations, international relations or a related field; a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may substitute
- Minimum 5 years of journalism and media-relations experience
- Experience developing media relations and events
- Experience with regional media across print, radio, broadcast and online channels
- Established media contacts across the Americas and Caribbean with a record of securing regional coverage
- Fluency in English and Spanish
