Job Description
Provides media-monitoring support to the UN Resident Coordinator Office in Sri Lanka, strengthening early warning and trend analysis. The Online Volunteer screens Sinhala print, digital and social media, identifies human-rights developments and emerging risks, alerts supervisors to urgent incidents, and produces neutral weekly English digests with headlines, narratives and editorial perspectives.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Screen Sinhala newspapers, news portals and social-media channels daily
- Track human-rights narratives, public sentiment and policy debates
- Flag time-sensitive incidents and emerging risks through agreed digital channels
- Draft objective weekly English media digests and summary notes
- Coordinate virtually with another Online Volunteer for balanced coverage
Role Requirements
- University degree in journalism, media or communications, human rights, law, political science, psychology, sociology or related social sciences
- English and Sinhalese are required
- Ability to maintain strict neutrality when extracting facts and themes
- Access to a computer and stable internet connection
