Job Description
Virtually support the UN Resident Coordinator Office's early-warning work in Sri Lanka. The online volunteer will screen Tamil-language print, digital and social media, log human-rights narratives and policy debates, flag urgent incidents and emerging trends, prepare objective weekly English digests, and coordinate with another volunteer to ensure balanced cross-regional coverage.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Screen Tamil print newspapers, news portals and social-media channels daily
- Track and log human-rights news items and online narratives
- Flag time-sensitive incidents, risks and emerging trends through agreed digital channels
- Draft objective weekly English media digests and summary notes
- Coordinate with the counterpart online volunteer to prevent duplication and balance coverage
Role Requirements
- University degree in journalism, media or communications, human rights, law, political science, psychology, sociology or related social sciences
- Interest or experience in media monitoring, news analysis, journalism or public-policy research
- Strong familiarity with Sri Lanka's national and regional media landscape
- English and Tamil
Desired Criteria
- Exposure to UN terminology or international-organization workflows is an asset
