Job Description

UNDRR seeks a consultant in Bogotá to strengthen Colombia’s recording of hazardous events, damages and losses during the 2026–2027 El Niño event. The consultant will consolidate and analyse disaster-impact data, coordinate with institutions, document information gaps and improve use of DELTA Resilience. Deliverables include technical reports, a case study and a webinar on results.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Collect and consolidate hazardous-event, damage and loss information in Colombia
  • Record event classifications, impacts, damages, losses and response measures in DELTA Resilience
  • Coordinate with subnational and sectoral entities managing disaster-impact data
  • Analyse El Niño impacts and identify data gaps and methodological challenges
  • Prepare technical reports, a presentation and a Colombia case study
  • Support presentation of results through a webinar

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in engineering, geography, environmental sciences, disaster risk management, statistics, economics, territorial planning or a related field, or a first-level degree with at least two additional years of qualifying experience
  • Five years of experience collecting, analysing or estimating disaster damages and losses
  • Experience in database management and analysis
  • Fluency in Spanish

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with government institutions responsible for disaster risk reduction
  • Experience with national disaster information systems
  • Knowledge of English or French
