Job Description

Supports UNCTAD's Trade Facilitation Section with econometric and statistical research on customs, transit and supply chains. The intern helps prepare training and communications materials for National Trade Facilitation Committees, contributes to workshop delivery and assessment, and develops drafts, charts and documents that strengthen trade-facilitation capacity in developing countries.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Undertake economic, econometric and statistical research on trade facilitation, customs, transit and supply-chain technologies
  • Prepare and standardise training materials for UNCTAD Empowerment modules for National Trade Facilitation Committees
  • Develop brochures, presentations and articles that promote the Empowerment programme
  • Support preparation, delivery, assessment and reporting for in-person and online workshops
  • Draft analysis on issues assigned by supervisors and develop charts and graphs
  • Prepare presentations, project documents and other materials supporting section activities

Role Requirements

  • Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate programme, or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme
  • Field of study must be closely related to the internship
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

  • Computer literacy in standard software applications
  • Demonstrated interest in the work and ideals of the United Nations
  • Ability to interact successfully with people from different cultural backgrounds and beliefs
