Job Description

Provides UNFPA technical support to Mauritania's Guidimakha Regional Health Directorate for sexual and reproductive health, maternal health and gender-based-violence interventions. The role coordinates planning, quality assurance, data use and partnerships while strengthening mobile and community services for vulnerable populations in development and humanitarian settings.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support planning, implementation and monitoring of sexual and reproductive health, maternal-health and gender-based-violence interventions
  • Coordinate with regional health authorities, districts, partners and humanitarian actors
  • Provide technical support and build capacity through training, mentoring and supervision
  • Organise formative supervision and uphold care-quality and humanitarian standards
  • Collect, validate and analyse programme data for performance monitoring and decision-making
  • Prepare technical reports and document results, good practice and lessons
  • Monitor reproductive-health commodities and support mobile clinics and outreach strategies
  • Represent UNFPA in regional technical coordination mechanisms and strengthen partnerships

Role Requirements

  • At least seven years of experience in planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring or management of health, reproductive-health, maternal-health, gender-based-violence or humanitarian programmes
  • Master’s-level qualification in public health, medical sciences, health-services management, project management, demography, social sciences or a related field
  • Experience with Mauritania’s health system and health policies
  • Experience in capacity building, supportive supervision and technical coordination
  • Ability to work under pressure and undertake frequent field missions
  • Proficiency with common IT and data-management tools

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of humanitarian approaches, MISP, Sphere and IASC standards
