International Consultant – Direct Entry BSc Midwifery Curriculum

Leads development of Sierra Leone’s competency-based direct-entry BSc Midwifery curriculum and student assessment framework. The consultant analyses national needs, aligns a 4,600-hour programme with ICM standards, designs syllabi and clinical tools, facilitates validation, and builds institutional capacity.

• Analyse national midwifery education needs, systems and regulatory gaps
• Facilitate consultations with regulators, universities, clinical sites and professional bodies
• Design the programme philosophy, outcomes and 4,600-hour curriculum structure
• Develop module descriptors using competency-based and applied-learning methods
• Create clinical logbooks, OSCE templates, rubrics and assessment guidelines
• Align the curriculum with ICM standards and Sierra Leone accreditation requirements
• Facilitate national validation and prepare the final curriculum package

• Advanced university degree in midwifery, maternal health, nursing education or a directly related field
• At least ten years of experience in midwifery education and curriculum development
• Experience developing competency-based health-professional education programmes
• Deep knowledge of ICM standards, frameworks and essential competencies
• Fluency in written and spoken English

• Experience collaborating with United Nations agencies and ministries of health
• Commitment to human rights, gender-transformative leadership and woman-centred maternity care

• Work is remote with travel to Sierra Leone for consultations and validation as required
• Payments are output-based at 20%, 40%, 35% and 5% against approved milestones
