Job Description

Supports UNHCR's protection and assistance operation in Kosti through field assessments, project monitoring, population-flow reporting and coordination with authorities and partners. The national officer helps identify protection risks, support reception and registration, prepare operational reports, and advance risk-informed responses for refugees, displaced people and host communities.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Assess needs of persons of concern and formulate project submissions with district authorities and implementing partners
  • Promote and monitor assistance projects
  • Report on new arrivals and expected influx through interviews with persons of concern
  • Support reception, registration and provision of assistance
  • Track detention cases and register applicants for voluntary repatriation and family reunion
  • Prepare sectoral and project-monitoring reports
  • Submit recommendations for protection interventions and negotiate with authorities, partners and populations of concern
  • Identify and manage operational risks

Role Requirements

  • Sudanese nationals only
  • One year of relevant experience with an undergraduate degree, or no experience with a graduate or doctorate degree
  • Degree in Law, Political Sciences or another relevant field
  • Knowledge of English, the UN working language of the duty station and a local language
  • Strong written and spoken English communication for internal and external reports
