Field Assistant

Supports UNHCR’s Bucharest field team in protecting and assisting refugees from Ukraine through community engagement, coordination and field monitoring. The role works with authorities, civil society and refugee communities, gathers information on needs and protection concerns, supports the Romexpo Community Centre, and helps ensure responses to people seeking safety and services in Romania.

• Engage national and local authorities, civil society and refugee communities to identify collaboration opportunities
• Plan and monitor field-team activities in line with policies, guidelines and standards
• Conduct needs assessments, data collection and protection-monitoring field visits
• Support coordination and daily operations at UNHCR’s Community Centre at Romexpo
• Provide two-way communication with refugee communities on needs and assistance
• Support advocacy, capacity building and reporting for inclusive field activities

• At least three years of professional or demonstrated relevant experience in political science, law, international relations, development or related programmes
• Excellent oral and written skills including drafting, formulation and reporting
• English, Romanian and Ukrainian language ability

• Experience with community-based organisations and participatory methods
• Experience working with the UN or an international development organisation
• Interest in working with refugees
