Job Description
Support UNHCR Mexico’s protection response in Mexico City by monitoring risks, managing cases and referrals, helping people access asylum procedures and services, and coordinating with government, civil-society and service-provider partners. The UN Volunteer contributes community-based protection, partner monitoring and reporting while mainstreaming rights-based protection across operations.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Support implementation of UNHCR’s protection strategy in Mexico City under Age, Gender and Diversity principles
- Collect, verify and synthesise protection-risk information to produce analytical briefs
- Support individual case management, registration, documentation and safe referrals for legal assistance, GBV, child protection, detention and refoulement risks
- Guide people of concern on asylum procedures and available services
- Coordinate referral pathways with government counterparts, implementing partners, shelters and civil-society organisations
- Contribute to community assessments, consultations and outreach activities
- Monitor partner activities and follow up protection indicators and deliverables
- Prepare reports, briefing notes, situation updates and donor inputs on protection trends
Role Requirements
- Experience in community-based interventions or development-cooperation projects
- Strong interest in issues surrounding migrants and refugees
- Ability to work in a multicultural team and commitment to humanitarian principles and service delivery
- Solid Microsoft Office skills
Desired Criteria
- Experience with private-sector entities, UN agencies or NGOs
- Humanitarian-sector experience
- Experience supporting vulnerable populations, humanitarian assistance or human rights
- Understanding of displacement dynamics and protection risks in Latin America and Mexico
- Familiarity with data-management tools or social media
